About Us - JKA Virginia

The Japan Karate Association (JKA), headquartered in Tokyo, was founded in 1948 by Master Gichin Funakoshi, the father of today’s karate. JKA now is the world’s largest shotokan karate organization with affiliated members in almost every country throughout the world. United States is affiliated through Shotokan Karate-do International, in New York City. We specialize in Shotokan karate, fostering growth, understanding, and character development in our students through dedicated training and guidance towards their highest potential.

JKA Virginia specializes in teaching Shotokan Karate, a traditional Japanese martial art. Our mission is to foster the growth and understanding of Shotokan Karate while nurturing the development of character in our students. Through our dedicated training, we aim to guide individuals towards realizing their highest potential within the discipline.
